We would like to follow up from Tuesday’s blog post and share with you some village pictures to get an idea of how hill tribe people live. We hope you enjoy these photos!
SCENIC SURROUNDINGS
Thailand is known for its beautiful landscapes and vegetation. Here are a few views from a village perspective.
HUTS
These are the types of huts that the hill tribe people live in. They are typically made of teak wood or bamboo, depending on the resources available.
HARVEST
Hill tribe people raise livestock and grow all of their own food. As for most of Asia, rice is the main food crop. Within the last 20 years, ITDP has contributed to the growth of coffee farms in northern Thailand. With the right education and support, coffee can be a major cash crop for hill tribe farmers. It is our goal to raise awareness and give farmers the opportunity to grow beans. We then find domestic and international markets for the farmers to sell their beans. Additionally, we have a Thailand coffee shop/brand and an U.S. partner non-profit who buys and roasts the beans, sold as Lanna Coffee.
